more hedgehog cards

Hello- hope everyone is having a good week. Thank God tomorrow is Friday. It sure is hot and miserable, hopefully the trades will come back SOON!

Anyway, my co-worker wanted me to make cards for her son and daughter's teachers. Here is a sampling of what I made. I think I need to start looking more at challenge templates since my cards are starting to get a little plain. What do you think? Take care and thanks for stopping by

card bag and cards

Hi-
I wanted to make something for my cousin's fiancee since we'll be going out to dinner soon and they're leaving on Thursday. Her favorite color is purple so everything has a touch of purple in it. I made this card pouch and then made 4 cards to go into it. Enjoy

bridal shower card

Hi- Just a simple card for today. My cousin is getting married and his fiancee's bridal shower is today. Since they live in Vegas I didn't want to get her something that she has to lug back with her. So I made this simple card- their colors are eggplant and some silver. I stamped the heart image in purple and silver, then paper pierced some of the swirls. I tried the Gina K's tin foil embossing techique (I know it's hard to see). I think it turned out okay, but I need to try it with heavy duty tin foil (I used regular). Anyway, I hope she likes the card. Thanks for stopping by.

OCS for Teri

Hello-
I think by now Teri received her card, if not SURPRISE! Anyway, she was my partner this month and I felt really pressured since her cards and projects are so beautiful. In any case, I now she loves Hello Kitty so I decided to use the one new die I have (I'm not sure if I'll buy the other ones for now. I know that this die is the best seller though (since it's out again at J's-lucky thing that I grabbed it the week it came out :)
Anyway, I glittered the big flower and then glued on the little one- I forgot to add the bling for the picture, but the really one has a rhinestone in the middle. I picked up the waves sizzix strip from J's when I picked up the HK die 2 weeks ago and used it. I then made a sun and cloud. I picked up the "fun in the sun" dandelion designs stamp on Saturday from J's and used it. I placed another wave in the inside of the card.

Anyway, I hope she really likes it-it's the best I could come up with. It takes me awhile to make the HKs because I try and make at least 10 at a time in advance so I pretty much spent the entire Sunday prepping for her card :)

I have to tell you a funny story about J's- I went on Saturday and he had a whole new lot of the $1.25 wood mounted stamps come in- well they were in a big pile so this other lady (I wish I knew her name b/c she was with me at Cute Stuff an hour earlier) and I organized his whole bottom display shelves so everyone can see what each stamp looks like. Cliff said that he usually doesn't bother organizing it because when his grandson comes (he's very cute BTW), he jumbles up the stamps. I hope he doesn't do it this time. I'm sure I'll be able to tell when I go back there soon. That store is addicting!

Sorry for the long post, but that was my Saturday at J's and my Sunday at home.
Thanks for stopping by and visiting. Take care and have a great week!

swine flu FAQs

Hi- I know that I may be "overkilling" the swine flu stuff, but I wanted to also share with you a PDF file of frequently asked questions. There is another document that talks about guidelines for recognizing flu symptoms and management. These come directly from Department of Health (who I work for). If you want to share it with others, please feel free. The main goal is to prevent the spread of this very communicable disease.

The Next Level

Hey guys- there's a new blog out there and they are starting up. Please go over to the next level- I have their logo and link on my sidebar. They will be launching their blog on 6/1/09 and to celebrate they are giving away blog candy. Please check it out.

May RAK and a public health message.

Hi-
I joined Jen Young's May RAK this month and I wanted to show you what I made my partner. She lives in the mainland so this post will go up before she gets it, so if she sees my blog- SURPRISE!

I made a card folder and then used (surprise, surprise) a Penny Black stamp (but hey, at least it wasn't a hedgehog ;P. In any case, I filled it with stamped images and a rubber stamp.

As an FYI to my fellow bloggers and new found friends- please take care of yourselves, H1N1 (swine flu) cases are on the rise and everyone needs to be extra vigilant. The main thing is, if you have a fever, coughing, sore throat, runny nose, body aches, etc please 1) go to the doctor 2) STAY HOME and KEEP YOUR CHILDREN HOME. As a public health nurse I would like all of you to stay safe and also prevent the spread of the flu.

I know as diligent workers we go to work or send kids to school even if we're "coughing up lungs", but this isn't safe for you or for anyone you come in contact with. Remember that HAND WASHING is still the most effective prevention for spread of disease (and also coughing/sneezing into your shirt sleeve- so your hands don't get contaminated). I know that everyone is heeding the hygiene practices as evidenced by not being able to find purell/germ-x anywhere in the stores ;P

SO PLEASE TAKE CARE OF YOURSELVES AND GOD BLESS!

magnets for nurses' day

Happy Nurses' Day to all of you nurses out there. It's a challenging but rewarding profession to be able to change someone's life even if it's in a really small way.

Anyway, we had a nurse's day potluck at work and I wanted to make something special for my co-w0rkers. (I of course couldn't leave out the wonderful clerks I work with.) I made bigger HK magnets and I made smaller ones. I used Two Scoops Rice Designs, Dandelion Designs and some other cute fairy, angel pig and cat and floating pig in an inner tube designs I found at cute stuff and creations unlimited. In any case, they were a big hit at the office and everyone appreciated it. I must admit that the magnets are very weak so they won't hold onto anything extra, but everyone can display it :)

Happy Mother's Day!

Hi- here are a few cards I made for mother's day.
The first is one I made for my mom (I used SU 5th Avenue Floral, went stickle crazy and of course added in some hedgehogs).

The 2nd are ones I made for my stepmom and stepgrandma, I also made a birthday card for my friend whose birthday is 5/1o/09 too :) (I used the flower pot card design by Stephanie Luman. Her original design was a little small so I figured out how to make it bigger so you could add more personal notes. I made one to fit a 6x6 envelope and one that just filled the A2 envelope better (believe me- this took a long time for me to figure out since I've never been the greatest with measuring and math).

Anyway- I hope you all have a blessed mother's day with your family. Take care and God Bless

birthday cards

Here are 2 cards I made- again penny black hedgehogs { can't get enough of them since they're so stinkin cute :) } the 1st one is for a little girl's b-day party and the 2nd is for my friend. I added stickles to the center of the poppy flowers and the butterflys and to the balloons. I used dew drops to decorate the happy birthday sentiment and I learned how to make a bow using maria bell's tutorial- I totally suck at making bows-maybe in another lifetime I'll figure it out. Anyway, Happy Saturday everyone!

order for card folders and cards

Hello- a co-worker of mine is going to NY to see her daughter graduate from NYU. She asked me to make more card folders and cards that she plans to give her family members as thank you gifts for helping her and her daughter out over the years. Attached are the card folders- the theme colors were lavendar and white, I added some silver to make some images pop. Inside I included 2 cards I made and then I created note cards, sorry that the pics of those came out blurry :(
She also wanted me to make cards for male family members-hence the monkey in the inner tube and the snorkeling cat
Anyway hope you like them and Have a great weekend!

card and card folder for eagle scout

Hi! My co-worker's nephew is becoming an eagle scout. She asked me to make a card for him and when I showed her the card holder I made last week she wanted that type. I scanned in the invitation to make the eagle and the badge. It took me a while to figure out the layout since he's a "boy" and I have a harder time making designs for males. But this is what I came out with. I used DJ inkers star design paper that I've had forever to back the images. Hope she likes it and congratulations to her nephew for this distinguished honor!
