March OCS card for Evie

Hi-
2 posts in a week- AMAZING! Anyway, as I mentioned previously, I finally finished my OCS card for Evie on Saturday. I decided to make a tent card and used a Easter bunny image I got from a set at cute stuff. I really liked how this turned out.

I used some paper flowers to make the brads and then I combined some other stickers and paper flowers that I had to decorate the border of the oval. I thought about adding a sentiment but couldn't figure out where (I didn't want to crowd the inside of the image w/ the bunny) and the DP was too busy so I just finished it up w/ dew drops.

I hope that she likes the card!

Anyway, I hope that you had a great Tuesday- only 2 more days of work for me this week.

We have Good Friday off and I will be going to church at 3pm like I do every year. In any case, let's acknowledge that Christ sacrificed his life for us and rejoice that he will rise again on Sunday. Even if you're not Christian, we can always celebrate Easter for the blessings and promises of spring that it brings. Oh and we can't forget the chocolate and sugary goodness.

Every year for Lent I give up dessert (it's usually something that is a self sacrifice or something difficult for you to give up or do). Well, I will be REJOICING on Sunday because I can finally eat dessert and of course celebrating Jesus' resurrection. I've been giving up the same thing for at least 10 years now and usually I'm okay w/ it, but this year- I don't know why but it was really difficult. My friends always tell me to give up something else since I always miss out on my Mom's, stepdad's, stepmom's and several friends' birthday cakes, so maybe next year I'll give up something else. My aunt told me to give up swearing- but that's way too difficult. For example, I went to church on Ash Wednesday and when I came out of church I got a parking ticket, of course I started swearing (2 minutes after I got out of church)- so I think that would be a difficult thing for me to give up. Of course, I should really try!

Anyway, take care everyone and I hope to post something before Easter but if not, have a blessed day with your family and friends.

Hugs to you all,
Kelli

Easter goodies pt 1

Hello everyone-
I hope you all had a nice weekend! Can't believe Easter is already this week. I made these little bags (10 of them) for some of my co-workers. I learned this from Cyndy at Munchkins and adapted them a little. I started out making something else for them but it turned out to be too big for the Ghiradelli squares that I plan on giving them, So I made these instead.

I used some purple paper that I got on clearance from cute stuff and then I used these stamps that I got from there also. I had actually printed out a lot of bunnies from the 2 cute stamps digital freebie, but I used them for the other bags I made, so my friends will get chicks instead. I cut out the images using punches and edged the bags w/ EK success punches. I tied them with some green ribbon I got from Walmart a while back.

Hope they like it!

I finished my OCS card for Evie this weekend too- I mailed it out today so I'll post it tomorrow, hopefully after she gets it!

I have to make more goodies for my co-workers so hopefully I get it done by Thursday, otherwise- they'll get it next week :P

Have a great Tuesday!

My 1st attempt at a double shaker card- HELP!

Hi-
Hope you are having a nice Tuesday! I attempted to make a double shaker card this weekend for my friend Gloria. Making the shaker wasn't a problem, but covering it was a doozy. I totally suck at it and as I've said in the past I really SUCK at measuring so it took me 3 tries to cover it and it still didn't come out great. I e-mailed Teri for help. I'm determined to figure this out so I will be attempting to make another one soon. The funny part is that my friend is really OCD so the fact that the framing came out off centered is just too ironic (my friend Michelle said that it may drive her nuts, but I don't think she noticed- it'll just drive me nuts).

Anyway, I used another new Penny Black image and I colored it w/ my copics. I then used purple microbeads that I got from cute stuff and purple and pink dew drops for the inside. The sentiment is from a SU set.

I was also left with one extra piece of acetate, I re-read the tutorial several times, but couldn't figure out where it belonged. I used one to make the initial window to put the microbeads, then I used the second one to put the stamped image on and then I used the 3rd one to cover it all up.

I think I was supposed to use the 4th one to seal up the image and then put the dew drops on that acetate and then seal it up? If anyone can help me I'd appreciate it.

I then attached the shaker to an easel card. I used the 2 new MS punches I picked up, I got both of them w/ the Ben Franklin 40% off coupon. I really like the "big shell design" and how you can add dew drops or embellishments to it :)

In any case, Gloria liked her card and she displayed it on her desk at work.

Take care and if anyone can help me with more tips on how to do this shaker-I'd appreciate it.

I still have to make my OCS card and Easter presents so I'll be busy this week. Hopefully I can post some stuff soon!

Card for my mom

Hello-
Hope you had a nice weekend, I managed to make 2 cards this weekend. I made this card for my mom- she is still in the hospital and will spend her birthday there. We're going to have a small gathering with her tomorrow.

I used a new Penny Black hedgehog stamp and followed Maria's Scrap pile Saturday sketch and adapted the Penny Black Saturday Challenge sketch. I colored the image w/ copics and used a glitter pen to decorate the butterfly. The sentiment is from a Hero Arts set that I got on consignment from Pineapple Cove. We had to make a bow on the card and I have a really hard time making bows, so after 20-30 minutes (but who's counting?)I came up with this one. It doesn't look too bad. I was planning on turning the easel card into a calendar but I didn't have enough space and I thought that it would look too crowded on the bottom.

I hope my mom likes the card, but more importantly, I hope she will come home soon!

Have a great week, I'll post my 2nd card tomorrow. I also decided to enter this into the Penny Black Saturday Challenge. We'll see what happens!

Take care!

Final card for my co-worker

Hello-
Well, I wasn't able to craft very much this week, but I did make this card last Sunday. I made it for our LPN Linda, she is so hardworking and funny and without her we'd never be able to handle the large numbers of attendees we have for our weekly immunization and TB clinics.

Anyway, I used a grass stamp and bee stamp that I bought from Munchkins. The stems for the smaller flowers are from a Papertrey ink set and the flowers are from several single hero arts stamps that I picked up last year from J's. The main flower image is from a unity stamp set that I picked up from Munchkins when it was on sale. I then cut the design and backing out w/ my scalloped oval nestabilities. I added dew drops, rhinestones and used a MS border punch. The butterflies are from a MS punch too. I was trying to use a sketch that I saw, but I didn't think the layout came out too nice so I adjusted everything to make this card. The sentiment is from PTI too and I cut it out using a tag nestability. I like that you can thread the ribbon into the tag.

Hopefully Linda will like it.

Have a nice weekend! Cyn will be having a make and take at Munchkins Saturday so check it out. Liann got some cute items in on Thursday so check her out too!

I will be trying to save money this weekend by staying home. I still need to make 3 more cards (one for my mom, my friend and my OCS card- it's coming Evie-sorry!)

I still have to make some things for my friends for Easter too~ YIKES!

Anyway, take care of yourselves and have a great weekend! Hopefully I'll post something on Sunday, but no promises :(

March birthday card using new techniques

Hello everyone-
Hope you are having a great Saturday! It's a beautiful day out, but it's HOT!--I'd rather have the wind, but not so much of it :)

Anyway, this card I made for my stepmom. She is a card maker too so it had to be special.

I used a SU stamp and I then cut it out w/ an oval nestability. I clear embossed the oval several times using versamark to give it a crystalized effect (note to self, be careful afterwards b/c the embossed surface may crack). The background, I made faux tin tiles (learned it on papercraftplanet.com) and dry embossed it afterwards w/ a sizzix embossing plate. Used a Dandelion designs sentiment for the top of the easel card and used a butterfly I picked up from the stamping expo last year. Used the whimsical words sentiment for the bottom of the easel card and the SU pinking border punch.

She loved the card which I am very happy about.

Anyway, have a great day and I hope to post something tomorrow. I still have 3 more birthday cards to make and my OCS card. YIKES!

another March birthday card

Hello everyone-
well my goal of posting a lot this week fell short, but I did make 2 cards. This one I made for my cousin's wife (the same cousin that I made the albums for)

Her favorite color is purple so I used that for the main color, but then I popped the images with other colors. The stamp I used is a new one from Penny Johnson and I got it from Munchkins in Mililani. I colored the bears using watercolor pencils and then colored the flowers w/ a combination of copics and pencils. I got the SU scallop trim punch thru the sale-a-bration sale so I used that to decorate the base. I also got the whimsical words stamp set so I used that for the sentiment. I added some dew drops to the base and used the MS butterfly trio punch for the little butterflies. Hopefully Pili liked the card.

I made another card for my stepmom and I will share that tomorrow!

Check out Cute stuff- Liann has some new penny black stamps that are adorable (I bought a ton of those too)
Check out Munchkins this weekend, Cyn has a sidewalk sale and stuff is on sale in the store too. She will also have a make and take tomorrow~
I went on a shopping spree this today- YIKES, I was doing so well :P So I will be hopefully creating this weekend~

Have a great weekend everyone. Take care and God Bless

Have a great weekend~

Many March birthday cards to make :)

Hello everyone-
I hope you had a nice weekend and your Monday was uneventful.
I have 3 co-workers, my mother, my stepmother and my cousin's wife celebrating their birthdays in March. So I will be busy and I also have my March OCS card to do :)

Here are the 1st 2 cards I made.
They both have dogs as the main image because my friends are dog lovers.

For the first card, I used a Julie Fujii stamp that I got from cute stuff a while ago and never inked up. (HOARD MUCH?) I followed a sketch by Our Creative corner but I had a really difficult time figuring it out because the tree would have been covered, so I hope I followed it. I got the tree from Munchkins in Mililani Town Center and I also got 2 sets of Hero Arts stamps that have grass stamps on them. You can't really tell, but I popped up the doggies using pop dots and I used glossy accents to enhance the hat, collars and sunglasses. I hope Gail likes the card.

The 2nd card is for my co-worker Gloria, I followed the same sketch for her card and I had an easier time following it. I used this Milton and company stamp that I got from Cute Stuff this weekend (wouldn't you know it, I waited too long and most of the bear stamps that I wanted were sold out. But Lianne will be ordering them again). I JUST REALIZED WHY I LOVE THIS DOG- HIS NAME IS TOBY ;)
I used a Fred She Said flower to embellish the card.

Well, I hopefully will finish the other cards this week and I will post again soon. Until then, I hope you all have a great week. Take care of yourselves

Happy Girl's Day

Hello everyone!
I hope you had a great girl's day. I'm not Japanese but I did make some cards and gave a few gifts to my co-workers' daughters. My aunt did give me a girl's day doll when I was younger and my co-worker told me that if I kept it out all year, then the belief is that it would take you longer to get married. WELL, THAT EXPLAINS SO MUCH! Darn, if I knew that belief, I would have hidden my doll and I WOULD be married by now! Oh Well.

In any case I cased the faces for these girls from Patti (she has amazing creativity!). I found how to make the kimonos using tags on this blog I used scraps to make my card and the kimonos.

The girls loved the card and the gifts.

It's furlough Friday today so I'm off to visit my mom in the hospital.

Have a great weekend and God Bless
