birthday gift card and happy mail from Denise
Hello-
Hope you all had a great Friday- it was a furlough one for me so I did some errands and played on the internet- anybody else ADDICTED to bejeweled?
Anyway, I made this card for Yumi to hold her birthday present. It's the style of gift card that others have been making all over the place. I'm not quite sure mine came out right b/c the gift card doesn't pop out a lot, but oh well. It's my first attempt.
Even more exciting was the RAK I received from Denise today!
She sent me a thank you note for praying for her sister-in-law and a matchbook chocolate holder, some dew drops and an ice cream cone stamp. I was planning on making matchbook holders for my co-workers this weekend and now I have a sample to make sure that I've done it correctly! WHOO HOO! Please say a prayer for Denise's SIL too her name is Cheryl Ann.
Anyway, I have a retirement party to go to on Sunday so I'll post a picture of the favors we made.
Have a great weekend and I hope I have more stuff to show you next week!
Take care!

More birthday cards
Hope you all are having a great weekend!
I made the following cards for the other co-workers who have birthdays in January.
The first card is for Nancy (I made her the swiss pixie one for my own personal card), but I used this Penny Black stamp for her office card. I colored the image w/ combination of prismacolor watercolor pencils and copics. I then blinged some of the hearts w/ purple stickle. She loves dogs so I thought that this would be perfect for her. I used the Birthday stamp from Cute Stuff.
The 2nd card is for Amy, she grows roses at home so I thought this Penny Black design would be perfect for her. I colored the mice w/ copics, but I used watercolor shimmer paint for the rose. I then stickled the rose bud. I used the same technique of punching out the edges and then lining the top and bottom border of the card w/ ribbon before I glued the image down.
The last card if for Yumi, she's a great friend and I love the Penny Black hedgehogs so I thought that this was so cute. I colored the image w/ copics and watercolor pencils. It was getting pretty late when I made this card so it's pretty simple.
Of course, compared to you all, ALL of my cards are very simple-sigh, I wish I was creative as you!
Anyway, have a great Sunday and week. It's furlough Friday for me again this week so hopefully I can play more in the upcoming weekend.
Take care and God Bless!

Some birthday cards and a big THANK YOU!
Hello everyone-
Thank you for your prayers for my mom. She is still in the hospital and may need to have another surgery, so if you could, please continue to pray for her.
Here are some birthday cards I made- I'll break them up so it seems that I have more posts for January LOL ;) Anyway, we have about 23 people in my office and last year we started buying birthday cakes for everyone. As you can imagine that became 1) very fattening since some months we were buying 4 cakes and 2) very costly. This year I decided that I would make cards for each co-worker and have the office sign it. That way it's hopefully more meaningful and less fattening for all.
Someone may decide to buy 1 birthday cake at the end of the month for each month's birthday celebrants so we can still have some sweet stuff- yum! (Cmon, we can't abstain from everything can we?)
Anyway, the first card I made for my friend Nancy, she loves flowers and is our office plant RN (whenever we have a dying plant we will give it to her and she will usually revive it. I remedy that problem by not having any live plants in my space at all- I've managed to kill several ivy plants and bromeliads over the years :P )
I used this swiss pixie stamp (I bought it late last year (like a lot of you) and haven't inked it up until now. I saw some people add dew drops to her wheelbarrow, but I decided to put some flower soft to make it look like she's carrying a floral bouquet. I used a Elzybell sentiment that I got from cute stuff. I also applied chunky glitter to her wings.
The 2nd card I made was for another co-worker. She really likes turtles and lives on a boat, so I decided to use this cute whippersnapper design for her. I used a EK success punch to cut the edges of the base paper and then I glued 1 strip of ribbon at each border before putting the base paper down. I stickled the flower of course :) don't look at the borders for the picture and sentiments too closely- I bought the MS corner and border punch set and am still trying to learn how to use it.
Anyway, it's been nice to start creating some things and I hope to do more. Right now though our main priority is to try and keep mom uplifted so she can come home soon.
Take care and have a great weekend crafting!

Happy New Year and a prayer request
Hello everyone!
I hope you had a great New Year and 2010 is starting off well for you all. I made it back from my trip- it's was a great trip, but I worked hard :) Had to take 2 kids to ER and numerous calls for nausea/vomiting, sore throat, etc. I did get to visit Disneyland and California Adventure Park, the grand canyon and the Fiesta Bowl Parade. I met a great group of parents and I may consider being the trip nurse again.
I have been doing a little crafting since I came back, and my friend and I made favors for a co-worker's retirement party at the end of the month.
But the main reason I'm blogging is to not only wish you all a Happy New Year and tell you guys that your creations are AMAZING! But also to ask you to pray for my mom. She had "female area" surgery before Christmas and has had several infections and has ended back in the hospital for wound cleaning. She's on antibiotics and she's okay, just very sore and pretty frustrated b/c of this. Anyway, if I could ask you to say a prayer for my mom, Fay I'd really appreciate it. I am a strong believer in the power of prayer and we've all seen the effects that it can have.
Thank you for reading and I'll be posting those pics of the stuff I made soon. I will also post some pics of the trip too when I can.
Take care and God Bless you all.
