More covered notepads

Hi-
I made these 2 covered notepads for my co-worker's daughter's teachers. I figured out how to make the pen holder on the side after ALOT of mistakes, but now that I got it it's alright :)

The first one I used a Hero Arts stamp- I've always loved this image but just recently go it. I used the emboss resist technique again and used brillance pigment pads to color the debossed areas- then I added some prima flowers to the middle for an added pop.

The second one I used watercolor images that I made earlier and then blinged the heck out of it. I used a MS deep flower border punch and then added dazzling diamonds to the sticky areas of the border

Pretty simple designs I know but as I've said- I've been so busy w/ work that I had to get these orders out quickly

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are having a great Memorial Day! where the heck is the year going?

some graduation cards

Hi-
My co-worker Linda ordered some graduation cards for her nieces who happen to love Hello Kitty. I used my cricut to cut out the hello kitties and I used the 3M adhesive paper that Teri talked about on her blog. It sure does make assembling the kitties simpler. I just used scraps of CS for the bows and teddy bear. One niece loves cupcakes so that was added onto her card. I used a Quickutz diploma die to make the diplomas- I misplaced my graduation cap die so I didn't use that :(

Anyway, they loved their cards and that's the most important thing!

I hope you are all having a relaxing Sunday!

Take care and have a great day!

True's mega multi candy

Hi everyone!
See the link on my sidebar to enter to win True's candy= she is evidently having surgery and will have 6 weeks to recuperate and she would like a lot of well wishes coming her way. As a thank you she is giving away this great candy! I wish her a speedy recovery!

I'M BAAACK

Hello everyone-
Whew- have you guys been as busy as I have? I've been very involved with the Waipahu Community Coalition of which I am the Secretary and also on the Waipahu Cane Haul run planning committee and the grant committee- needless to say I've been at meetings fo' dayz and unable to load my pics and update my blog. What I really miss the most is BLURFING and seeing all of your amazing creations!

I have been creating though and in the following days you will see some stuff that I've made. I also participated in the May Aloha RAK and also the May OCS so I'll show you my creations and my partner's AWESOME creations- I'm so lucky to have been partnered with these people!

Anyway, onto the first thing MAY OCS! Thank you to Linda and Kyoko for organizing this!

My partner was Tia Iida and she is so talented- I received this card from her and it's gorgeous! I love her coloring and I really like the SU felt flower!

I in turn made this one for her, I used another Swiss Pixie that was released recently and I colored it with distress inks- what do you think? I really liked this technique but it is more time consuming than coloring w/ copics. I really liked the way the distress ink made the shadows though. I also tried the ribbon ruffling technique which turned out okay- I think it'd be better with shiny and wider satin ribbon, but this was a good first attempt (IMO...lol :)

Anyway, that's it for today- I'm trying to refrain from increasing my credit card debt and going shopping at Cute Stuff, J's, Pineapple Cove and Scrapbook Clubhouse= but they all have great deals so don't YOU miss out!

Take care and I'll have another post tomorrow. For those of you who do visit, I really enjoy reading your comments so if you would like to show me some LOVE, it's very appreciated!

Have a great Saturday and be safe on this long weekend! Remember our armed forces members who have sacrificed their lives for our safety and freedom!

God Bless!

Penny Black Saturday 100 challenges

Hi everyone-
I hope you are all doing well! It's furlough Friday for me and boy am I happy! I really needed a break. Anyway, if you've been reading, I had to make 5 birthday cards for this month and I've completed all of them except for 1.

This week Penny Black had a special challenge blog hop since they've had 100 challenges so far. So I decided to enter. I followed their sketch and made 2 birthday cards with it.

The first card is for my co-worker and friend Kelly, I used a new PB hedgehog design off of the clear stamp set "Wonderful Day" and then blinged the heck out of it. I used glittery bo bunny paper that I got from cute stuff. For the side border I used a SU dry emboss folder and I made my own glimmer spray so I spritzed it all over the flower. I actually got the idea to layer to main image over the flower from Beth who was the first stop on the blog hop- check her out she does amazing work!

The 2nd card I made is actually for Kelly's youngest daughter Katie. Katie is a bundle of energy and so funny- she just made 3 years old! I used 2 Penny Black images from "It's your day" stamp set and then colored it w/ copics. I then added glitter to the top of the cupcake and used my glitter pen to highlight the bow on the present on the other image. I'm going to her birthday party later on today and get to eat cake w/ her :)

Well, I hope you all have a blessed weekend and take care of yourselves. I am going to lay low this weekend and actually try to craft but also work on the website for the Waipahu Community Coalition that I am involved with. I was elected secretary in January and it's been a non-stop ride since then. I had already created our Cane Haul Run blog last year, but now I'm tasked with creating and updating the website, facebook page and some other stuff. WHEW! I'm pooped. But seriously, it's a great group and we are all working towards providing drug free and safe activities for our community members but also to instill Waipahu Pride in the residents. If you are interested in joining us on 8/22/10 @ 700am for the 2nd Annual Waipahu Cane Haul Run go here for more information (right now we're still working on finishing up registration forms etc, but keep checking back at this blog and also the cane haul run blog for more information.

Wedding card for my cousin

Hello!

I hope you all are doing well, I've been busy creating, but haven't had time to post or blurf, so I'm WAAAAY behind.

Anyway, last week Saturday, I went to my cousin Nina's wedding. My father's side of the family is very LARGE! There are about 30+ 1st cousins, 80+ 2nd cousins, etc. It all stemmed from my paternal grandparents who came here from the Philippines and had 8 children.

Her wedding was at the Berenice Pauahi Bishop chapel @ Kamehameha Schools- I went there when I was younger for a wedding and didn't get to appreciate it's grandeur until last week. Everything is made of koa wood of course and the chapel is very peaceful. However, the it does get hot in there.

I took a picture of a trunk of a tamarind tree that was in the chapel. When Princess Pauahi was born as was common practice of the Ancient Hawaiians (they would bury the newborn child's afterbirth (placenta) usually under a tree. Well, when she was born there wasn't a tree growing in her yard at the time, so they planted her afterbirth and then planted a young tamarind tree. This is the tree trunk of that tamarind tree- it is 800lbs. I really love history and I thought that I would take a picture of this to share for those of you who haven't been able to visit the chapel.

Incidentally, only alumnae of Kamehameha Schools are allowed to use the chapel, so it was a special honor to be invited to this wedding.

After the wedding, my cousin's reception was at the "Pink Palace" AKA the Royal Hawaiian Hotel (One of Hawaii's first hotels). Her cocktail hour was held in the lawn overlooking the ocean and Diamond Head. Her reception was held in the lovely monarch room.

Anyway, now onto her card:
I used their save the date announcement for the picture and then decorated it simply. I used a nestabilities frame to cut out the SU sentiment and then decorated it w/ roses that I picked up at Cute Stuff.

I was a great night and it was nice seeing all of the cousins again.

May birthday card #2

Hi-
My co-worker Barb's birthday is on Mother's Day. She is tireless and an amazing woman. I was able to produce this card early Thursday morning before I had to go to an all day Nurse's Day conference. It was good though b/c majority of our office was there so it was really easy to get the card signed this time.

Anyway, I used 5th Avenue Floral stamps again and then the sentiment is from a Penny Black clear set.I used a MS border punch and then added some bejeweled butterflies to accent the card~

I hope she likes the card~ I still have to make 3 more for the month so I have to get busy!

Hope you are all having a great week so far! Take care!

Furlough Friday fun

Hi-
I had some friends (co-workers) come over on Friday to learn how to make cards. I've been so busy w/ work that I actually had to postpone the gathering by a week so I could finish cleaning my house. :P I didn't finish making the 4 A2 cards until Thursday night (I went to sleep at 230am); then I got up at 500am to finish making 3x3 cards that I was going to include in their 3D project.

The first card is using a SU set and I really like how it turned out. The girls actually enhanced the pomegranate "friend" image by coloring the flowers and that made it POP!

The 2nd card is also a SU set and I had them practice coloring the stamp w/ SU markers. They used these cards for their mother's day cards.

The 3rd card used the 5th Avenue floral rose and I emboss resisted the image

My friends Melissa, Yumi and Kelly came over to craft and they were able to finish 2 sets of cards, they need to come back in June so they can finish their projects.

Melissa finished the first 2 cards and I like how each person really adapted the design as their own.

Yumi also finished the first 2 cards and she was the one who colored the flowers in the pomegranate colored "friend" stamp and she added a 3rd butterfly to her card so everyone else copied her,

Kelly was able to stay and make 1 card out of the 3rd set. I taught her how to emboss resist the 5th Avenue floral rose and she really liked that technique.

I will post the pics of the 3x3 cards I designed later.

It was a nice morning; I had initially planned to have them finish 10 cards and 1 3D project, but they all had other things to do. So I'm glad that they finished 4-5 cards and made cards for Mother's Day!

I was more importantly able to share a "stress release craft" w/ them and use up some of my stash. As you can see in some photos I have a LOT of stuff.

Take care of yourselves and I'll see you soon in blogland!

Card for a baby shower

Hi-
My boss's son and daughter-in-law are having a boy this month. As an office we wanted to take up a collection to get them some gift certificates.

I made this card for them. I CASED the idea from Valita's fresh folds and made it with punches. The card she made was for a girl so it was easy to embellish the safety pins, well, for a little boy, I had to improvise.

Anyway, I hope they like the card and gift, but more importantly, may the birth of their son be safe and may the child be healthy!

Thanks for visiting, I hope you are having a nice Saturday!

May birthday card #1

Hello everyone!

May is another busy birthday month for me. I have to make 3 birthday cards for co-workers to sign and 3 personal birthday cards and 2 mother's day cards! Geez, I'll be busy!

Anyway, this is a card I made for my sister. I used a Penny Black clear stamp set and laid out the 3 stamps on a large rock a block. I love these rock a blocks b/c it almost always makes your stamped images come out perfectly (the only problems that I've had with it is when I made a mistake) I have always had problems putting equal pressure on stamps and messed up my images, but since I got these, my stamping is so much better. I bought my set from an UK company, but cute stuff did have the large rock a block sets in at one point, so go check them out if you have trouble like I do w/ stamping.

I colored everything w/ my copics and added bling with my sakura silver pen. I then added dew drops to the corners to make them pop.

Just a simple card, but I like the simplicity.

Take care and I hope you are having a great Saturday
