A Sad card

Hi-
My cousin and his wife had a memorial for their daughter who passed away in-utero. Zoe was gestationally 6 months old but unfortunately she didn't survive. I made this card for her family. I used the SU pinking heart border punch (118072)to accent the DSP, the rest of the materials were non-SU items. The Himawari angel baby was a fitting image though.

It was a touching ceremony and the most touching thing was a letter that Zoe's older sister Caitlin wrote to her telling her of all of the things they would have done and what she would have taught and shown her.

It is never easy to lose anyone that you love but this is especially heartbreaking.

I hope my card brought them a little comfort, but I know that nothing can replace the loss that they've suffered, but hopefully time will heal their pain and that they will be able to have another baby soon.

As a passing thought, we all know that life is so unpredictable so while we're here, let's enjoy every moment that we have with each other.

God Bless you All and thanks for coming to visit my little blog when you can!

An August co-worker birthday card

Hi-
My yearly goal to make handmade birthday cards for each of my co-workers is almost complete. I have to make 4 for August, of course 3 of them will be delayed, but oh well, I tried.

Anyway, this is the first card for our clerk Melanie- her's was a little delayed, but at least I got one done.

I used the SU set Printed Petals (120444) to create the focal images and I used the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Well Scripted stamp set which is unfortunately no longer available. :(

I used a non-SU border punch for the daisy chain and added stickles to the center of each daisy.

I have to work on the other 3 this week so I'll hopefully be posting them soon.

Until later, take care and God Bless~

I really love the elegant designs on the Deck the Halls DSP (120810, pg. 18) and I love the new glimmer brads- perfect for adding a blingy touch to your handmade flowers!(page 36)
I also like the vintage Christmas stamp set Bells and Boughs (121742- clear set $14.95, pg. 19) or if you don't want to get that entire set then you can get the A la Carte stamp Christmas postcard (121428, pg. 41) for only $9.95

I also got the new Extra Large decorative label punch (12090, pg.25) to add that special touch to handmade cards and tags. It also coordinates with the stamp set Tags til Christmas (121169, pg. 24)

My 1st Stampin Up Workshop

Okay, as promised I'm back...for this week anyway :)

I had my first SU workshop in the beginning of August and we made these 2 projects.

The first one was a simple A2 card that they loved creating. I got to show them the spotlighting technique and showcased several SU products.
I used Rich Razzleberry CS (119942)as the base. I LOVE THIS COLOR and it's starting to become one of my favorites! I used Pear Pizazz (a new in-color for the next 2 years) (119795) to accent the card. Stock up on this CS as it's one of everyone's favorites!
I used the Herb Expressions stamp set (#113224)as the focal image and I spotlighted at portion of the stamp and popped it up w/ dimensionals.
I used the scallop trim border punch (118402) to accent the pear pizazz piece and I sponged around the whisper white focal image w/ soft suede classic ink pad (115657)
Finally I used the newest bling (basic rhinestones 119246)that SU sells and put 3 rhinestones at the corner.

The next project was a gum holder. I used the simple friendship stamp set (113397) which is one of my favorites and then I used the butterfly sizzlet dies to make the small butterflies.
I had them color the images with SU markers or the markers of their choice and I used the tiniest rhinestones out for the basic rhinestones set to accent the flower centers. I also applied the 2 way glue pen to other flower centers and also on the "bumps" of the larger butterfly and the border of the smaller one so they could use dazzling diamonds fine glitter (102023).

Finally as a treat for all of the guests, I used the petal card Extra-large double punch (119273) to make this little candy holder for them. I used the level 2 stamp set Cute by the inch (120130) for the sentiment.

All in all, the workshop was a success! They all had fun and the hostess got great deals!
If you want to order any of these items, you can either click on my SU website link in the top corner of my blog or IF you want a workshop, please e-mail me so I can help you organize one!

Thanks and take care!

A Graduation Card

Hi-
My 2nd cousin graduated from Mililani High School this year and her graduation party was at the end of July. I made this cute card for her. I really didn't want to go with a graduation theme, so I used this sweet Tina Wenke stamp and made the congratulations sentiment in Mililani colors. I inadvertently did that, but what a great coincidence, so I'm calling it creative genius!

Anyway, she had a great party and I hope that she will be able to go to school soon.

Thanks for stopping by....take care!

I'm BAACK AGAIN!

Hello everyone-
I can't believe it's been a month since I last blogged. So sorry!
I was very busy planning our 2nd Annual Waipahu Cane Haul Run since I was race director, so things have been crazy hectic.

I also signed up as a Stampin Up Demonstrator and I had my first workshop in the beginning of August. Over the next week I'll be posting some things that I've worked on. I'm trying to get my creative juices flowing again and my mojo. So hopefully I'll find it soon.

First off though I wanted to do a delayed post of my July OCS and the terrific card that I received from McCine in Las Vegas!

As you know for July, Linda wanted to focus to be on words so I made this simple card (boy did I feel terrible for making this simple card when McCine created an amazing card for me!)

Anyway, I used this Helen Keller sentiment stamp that I got from Cute Stuff and then I used my nesties and Prima flowers that I got to decorate it. I hope she liked the card (sorry McCine that is was so simple! :(

And THIS is what I got in return- HOLY MOLEY! WHAT A BEAUTIFUL SHUTTER CARD! It's full of inspiration and bling. I love it. She created it to help wish me luck w/ my new SU venture. Hopefully her card and well wishes will bring me business, but it DEFINITELY provided me w/ inspiration!

Anyway, that's it for now. Thanks for stopping by and I'm sorry that I've been away for so long!

Friday night crafting

Hi everyone!

I went to my friend Denise's house on Friday and we made 2 things

I taught them how to do this box that I made for my June Aloha RAK (I will be tweaking this lady's tutorial and I hope to do a step by step one soon... :P) I had some issues w/ making the scalloped cardboard top and bottom but it turned out okay. I used a sizzix die to make the flowers- they are pretty easy to make. I used another Milton & Co stamp (this bear is Milton)

Then Denise taught us how to make this tea bag holder (sorry I don't have teabags to put in the box but I think you guys can't use your imagination)

Denise and Jamee made these cute "baskets" and filled them w/ Hershey's Kisses- yummy!

I had a great time and I'm so happy to have met Denise and Jamee; they are such loving people and I really admire the great mother-daughter relationship that they have. They are really fortunate to have such a great relationship.

Anyway, I didn't get to take pictures of the girl's boxes, but they turned out stunning and I was so impressed by their coloring skills!

I hope you are having a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Take care and God Bless!

My June OCS

Hi everyone-
I hope that you're having a nice Monday and it's not too hectic!

I was partnered w/ the AWESOME co-coordinator of the OCS for June, Miss Linda herself and she made me this great card!

It is so pretty IRL and the coloring is terrific. She used some paper flowers and I think she stickled them.

She also included a cute Hello Kitty notepad.

I had a great time meeting and crafting w/ her at the Munchkins Make and Take last Saturday!

Thanks for stopping by!

My nephew's card

Hello everyone- I hope you are having a great weekend!

My nephew turned 7 on Wednesday and we celebrated his birthday at Chuck E. Cheese on Thursday.

He's losing his teeth (he's lost the 2 front and will soon lose his canines and he's lost one on the bottom). When he was a baby his teeth would come up in bunches so it figures that he'd lose them in bunches too. Well, we just told him that he has enough "garage space" to fit a hummer in his top gum.

Anyway, I made this quick card for him, I used a Milton & Company stamp (the dog's name is Toby) and I did a simple layout since 1) he's a boy 2) he's a boy and doesn't notice fine details :)

I gave him a consolidated theaters gift card since he wanted to see Sorcerer's Apprentice (good show btw) and he had fun. We hardly get to see him so it was nice to see him and spend some time with him.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great Sunday!

Christmas in July Make and Take

Hi everyone-
I went to Stampin Munchkins on Saturday w/ Denise and Jamee and I met Linda for the first time and met up w/ Janis (great Island girls) and we made this card. The image is a Milton stamp and it's just adorable.
Cyn taught us how to make this triangle tri fold card (which I first made last year when I first started blogging) and then we colored the image w/ copics and used pearl pen to accent the poinsettia.

I was a great hour spent w/ some of the island girls and they are all so funny and TWILIGHT SERIES OBSESSED! I hope to craft with them again, it was great to finally meet Linda in person!

Take care and have a nice week- I'll try to post again, but we'll see. I am getting ready for my first SU workshop in August so I will definitely be building up my supply and crafting. If you want to order something or have a workshop, please e-mail me (see my profile) or click on the SU catalog and it'll take you to my website.

thanks for visiting and take care! God Bless you All!

Color renovation and Color Renovation Kits

Hello everyone!
Welcome to my new Stampin Up Happenings Page, thanks for exploring the tab!
Here I will post promotions or new information that Stampin Up wants you to know!

First off-
The new 2010-2011 Catalog is here and it's wonderful! There are so many new products to try and the ideas are stunning! They have re-vamped their colors and the newest thing for an established Stampin Up customer is to add to their color collection cost effectively.
The newest thing is that they've extended the In Colors for a 2 year stint so for this year you can add 5 new colors to your collection AND in the 2011-2012 catalog they will add another 5 new colors so you'll have 10 new colors to pick from! HOW EXCITING!

The new color renovation kits allow you to purchase new colors (stamp pads, markers or card stock in smaller increments so you don't need to go and buy ALL the new colors at once!)

Click on the picture of the Color Renovation Kit PDF file on my left sidebar to see the details!

Thanks for stopping by and stop by often so I can give you more updates.

I also will post some ideas about ribbon or paper shares that my customers could participate in so you can buy samples of the ribbons or papers in an affordable manner! Please leave a comment if you are interested in this idea!

"You're Free!"

Hi everyone-
I hope you are having a nice weekend! My co-worker Dayle "retired" (her long term contract was not renewed so she had to leave and since she doesn't plan to find another job, I guess she retired). In any case, we miss her smiling, boisterous laugh and her hard work. She was terrific to work with.

I made this card for everyone to sign- I used a Penny Black image again and then I cut them out w/ my nesties. I made a computer generated sentiment and attached it to the ribbon. I couldn't think of a better sentiment than "You're Free!"

I designed these goodie bags for her favors and my 2 friends Kelly and Yumi (who come to my house for furlough Friday classes) helped me make the bags.
I learned to make the bags at a Stampin Munchkins class I took a while back and then I just re-sized it to make the bag a little smaller.
I used Dandelion Designs stamps and cut them out w/ punches. I used border punches to punch the top of the bags before we assembled them.
I filled the bags w/ mini snickers, butterfingers, milky way, etc and everyone enjoyed it.

Dayle had a nice time at her "retirement" luncheon and we all got to spend some time with her. We're hoping to convince her to come and volunteer for us at some point :)

Thanks for stopping by and come by tomorrow so I can show you what a fun make and take we did on Saturday.

I took the plunge

Please e-mail me if you want to set up a class. I have a stampin up website so if you just want to directly order from there that's fine too, click here.

I am hoping to do some exciting things in the future but right now I have to focus on the Cane Haul Run (see previous post).

In any case, I just wanted to share my little bit of news.

Take care and God Bless!

June Aloha RAK

In June the Aloha RAK theme was buttons- my partner was Jovita Torres in Arizona and I hope by now she has received my RAK. If not...SURPRISE!

Anyway, I wanted to make a box for her so I got this idea off of artistic avenger here, check her blog out- she's AWESOME!

I then filled the box w/ 6 3x3 cards that I made out of a PTI stamp set, this set is made specifically to add buttons to the designs and I love that! I then decorated the box w/ a PCS digi stamp and I used a inkadinkado sentiment stamp for the top. I added in some felt flowers that I got from cute stuff. I also included a stamp set that I got from BF.

I hope that she likes it- I had fun making the cards and I apologize for the tardiness of the RAK.

Take care of yourselves and I'll see you guys soon.

Thanks for stopping by and for those of you who comment- thank you so much it makes me so happy to read your posts.

July birthday cards

Hi-
My co-worker Jan had her birthday on 7/5/10. She is a great friend and I hope that she had a great birthday.

My office card for her uses a tiddlyinks design and then I followed a Our Creative Corner sketch to create the layout. I used nestabilities and MS punches and I made a fold up flower a long time ago that I decided to finally use. I then made a pin to attach to the ribbon. I need to find those caps for the pins so it doesn't poke anyone, but for my first attempt I think it worked out okay.

My 2nd card used Penny Black designs- she loves cats and PB has such cute cat characters. I used the SU lattice impression folder from the summer 2010 mini catalog to make the front of the card and then followed the same OCC sketch. I used 2 different types of MS punches and the label is from a nestabilities frame set.

Anyway, she liked the cards and that's the main thing. I usually make her Ooey Gooey Pumpkin Butter Cake for her birthday and she begs me for it throughout the entire year, but this year she recently had to take all dairy and soy out of her diet so I made her watermelon sorbet and Vanilla almond milk gelato instead- I hope she likes it!

Take care everyone!

Waipahu Cane Haul 5K Run/Walk

Hello everyone-
I apologize for not being around so much- it's not that I'm not crafting, it's just that I'm to busy to post. I've been appointed as race director for the 2nd Annual Waipahu Cane Haul Run which is on 8/22/10 @ 7:00a.m. It starts at Hawaii's Plantation Village in Waipahu and it's a scenic run/walk thru the Waipahu Neighborhood. Our inaugural race last year had 300 participants and we're hoping for 500 participants this year! If you are available on Sunday 8/22/10 and would like to come out for some fun and exercise, please click here to go to our Waipahu Cane Haul Run blog. I would love to meet you and I thank you for your support!

My June OCS

Hi everyone-

WHAT? 2 postings in a week- AMAZING!
Anyway, my partner was the wonderful, Eclipse C-R-A-Z-Y Linda herself so my card had to be good.

The theme for June's OCS was to use your favorite things.
Well, my favorite things are MS punches, nestabilities and Penny Black stamps.
I found out how to make an accordion pop up card on SCS and then I used a PB stamp as the main focal image. I sponged clouds behind the hedgehog.
I adapted a PCP layout for the front of the card. For the inside of the card, I made the pop up flowers from a PTI set and then used various Hero Arts sentiments and images to different pop up layers.

Finally I tied the card shut w/ brown gingham image that I got from Js and then attempted to tie a NON-LAME ribbon, but Oh WEll!

Anyway, I hope that Linda liked her card; I enjoyed trying out the new technique.

Thanks for stopping by everyone!

If I don't post before 7/4/10; HAVE A TERRIFIC INDEPENDENCE DAY. LET'S ALL STOP A MINUTE DURING OUR FESTIVITIES TO PRAY FOR OUR TROOPS AND THE SACRIFICES THAT THEY MAKE/MADE FOR OUR FREEDOM AND LET'S GIVE THANKS TO OUR FOREFATHERS AND ANCESTORS THAT DIED FOR OUR COUNTRY.

Take care!

Another furlough Friday class

Hi-
My friends came over to finish the cards they started in May. They made 10 cards total and used SU supplies amongst other things. My friend Melissa was the only one left when I remembered that I needed to take the pics. So ta-dah; here's her creations!

The last card they made was from the Summer Mini SU catalog elements of style. I taught them how to color and shade w/ SU markers.

They enjoyed the class so that's the main thing. We will be meeting again next month for another project!

Thanks for stopping by--sorry I've been away for so long!

Take care!

Happy Father's Day

Hi-
I made these 2 cards for my Dad and Stepdad. I learned how to sponge the sky using this tutorial from Whiff of Joy- it's an awesome site to learn about new techniques or ideas. I colored the bear and lake and trout w/ my copics and then masked the image to make the sky. I sponged the blue sky with the Tim Holtz blending tool and SU soft sky and Baja Breeze ink, I didn't quite like the lack of control that I had with the blending tool. But overall I think it turned out okay

I've been admiring the brayered technique of sunset or dusk that I've seen on blogs so I decided to try something similar. So for my stepdad's card- I've used the same technique but I wanted a sunset sky instead. I used SU Yoyo Yellow and Pumpkin Pie to make the sky. I also used SU soft sky, taken w/ teal and sage shadow to make the ocean. I used sponge daubers to sponge the sky this time and I felt more comfortable. I also sponged in the ocean w/ a folded up make up sponge.

I decided to make them smaller cards since I don't know if they'll save them so I like making these cards w/ the nestabilities. :)

Anyway, my Dad and stepmom are in Vegas and they come home tomorrow, so I'll be spending the day w/ my mom and stepdad. hopefully if it's sunny, we'll go up to my step-grandma's house to swim in her renovated pool and then eat Blazing steaks :)

Have a great Father's Day and I hope you have a wonderful time with your family and friends!

Take care!

A "Precious" Birthday Card

Hi everyone-
Happy Saturday! I hope you all had a great week and are having a nice relaxing weekend. It's been crazy busy for me at work and I've been working 12 hour days and been in tons of meetings so I'm very glad that it's the weekend. :)

In the previous post I showed you the card I made for my co-worker Michelle's birthday that the office signed. She liked her card a lot and was shocked when I told her that I made the Rich Razzleberry DSP myself using stamps.

Anyway, she loves Precious Moments and I found this website that Shirley mentioned on her blog so I decided to download and color a PM image. I have always admired the charms that people use on their cards and I actually bought some stuff from Stamp and Create that Joy mentioned before. But this smiley sunflower charm can be bought from Cute Stuff.

I colored the image with my copics and then used prima flowers to embellish the top and attached the charm using jump rings I picked up from Wal-mart. She like her card a lot and that's the main thing :)

Thanks for stopping by I hope you all have a great day and have a terrific Father's Day tomorrow. Come by tomorrow and I'll post the 2 cards I made for my Dad and Stepdad.

Take care!

Office birthday card for my co-worker

My co-worker Michelle's birthday is today and I made this card for the office to sign for her. I used this emerging colors emboss resist technique. I think it turned out okay- I wish I had a bigger flower to use as the focal point instead of the hero arts doily stamp, but oh well. I was actually going to scrap the whole idea, but then I decided to cover it w/ Rich Razzleberry and then used a SU wheel to add the flourishes and the background paper started getting better. I also spritzed it a LOT w/ glimmer mists.

I used a spellbinders fancy frames for the sentiment and the happy birthday is from the SU set that came out in the summer mini- I love it, but I just wish it also had a Thank you and Get Well Soon sentiment too. Anyway, I then added some prima flowers that I picked up from Little C's which I spritzed w/ glimmer mist and used my new layered arches MS punch to add the double border. I stamped a butterfly from another stamp set I got (I think it's Inkspirations) and then I colored it w/ SU lavendar lace and baja breeze.

I think all in all it turned out okay- I really like the rich razzleberry color and will probably use that some more :)

Anyway, I hope that she likes her office card. I need to make my card for her this weekend so I'll post that soon.

Take care and have a great Saturday!

One more covered notepad

Hi-
Here's another covered notepad I made. My aunt ordered one for her friend and she wanted a HK design. So here it is! I finally used this paper that I had from the DCWV Asian pack. I like the papers, but there's always some in the paper stack that aren't the greatest designs. I liked the color, but not the medallion thing so much. But it worked great w/ this MS layered arches eggplant border and the HK.

I hope that my aunty's friend likes it!

more covered Jr. size notepads

Hi, it's Sunday which means 1)It's the Lord's day (even though I go to church on Saturdays) 2) I GOTTA GO BACK TO WORK TOMORROW! BOOO HOOO! But it's another short week as Kamehameha Day is on Friday= YIPPEE!

Anyway, these are the 1st 4 covered notepads that I made to fulfill a co-worker's order. Her mom sewed some purses for her friends and she wanted something to put inside.

I used the watercolor technique I learned to make the focal images and then I just picked DSP according to the color of the purses that my friend will give to her friends. I used MS punches to make the borders and nestabilities to cut the focal images out.

The funny part is that she ordered these from me on a Monday and I had to complete it by Thursday and then she was rushing so much to get to the airport that she forgot to take these notepads with her. :)

Anyway, I hope that they liked the notepads.
